Stop Bainbridge Island's BAN on Open House Signs!

We are asking for your voice to stop the City of Bainbridge Island from passing a sign ordinance which will prohibit you from using sandwich board signs for your open houses on the Island. Should the ordinance pass, each agent would need to have their open house signs permitted to the tune of $750 for three signs, with a maximum of three signs allowed per business, and the signs would only be allowed within two miles of your place of business.

Download a copy of the ordinance here.

The proposed sign ordinance is BAD for REALTORS® and all licensed real estate agents as it will deeply impact your ability to market your open houses. One alternative would be for the Council to adopt an "ultra-temporary" category for sandwich board signs that would accommodate Open House signs. This category could be for signs that are out for four hours or less at a time.

What Can You Do?

First: Please email the Bainbridge Island City Council.

You can copy and paste the message below or compose your own:

I am a REALTOR® and I am asking the City Council to vote NO on Ordinance No. 2024-27, regarding the use of sandwich board signs, at your December 10th meeting. The proposed ordinance will have a significant negative impact on my ability to sell homes in the City of Bainbridge Island. Instead, I ask that the City Council consider adopting an "ultra-temporary" category for sandwich board signs that would accommodate Open House signs that are essential to my business and that of my fellow REALTORS®, and all real estate agents.

Thank you for your consideration.

Second: Attend the Bainbridge Island Council meeting

on December 10th at 6pm, when they intend to vote on the proposed sign ordinance. By showing up at the meeting we will show them that we are paying attention and that they need to reconsider this BAN ON SANDWICH BOARD OPEN HOUSE SIGNS.
